The Punjab State Government has launched the Ashirwad Scheme to provide financial assistance for the marriage of the girl child. The government has renamed the earlier Shagun Scheme as Ashirwad Scheme. On 30 December 2020, the Punjab State Government paid Rs 39 crore for 19,082 girls belonging to economically weaker families at the time of their marriage. Girls from Scheduled Caste (SC) / Backward Class (BC) / Economically Weaker Section (EWS) can now apply online. Panjab Ashirwad Scheme 2024 Eligibility
- The beneficiary of this scheme should be a permanent resident of Punjab state.
- The applicant should belong to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe.
- EWS category applicants are also eligible for this scheme.
- The family income of the beneficiary of Panjab Ashirwad Scheme 2024 should be less than Rs.32,790.
- The applicant should have his own bank account.
- The age of the applicant girl should be at least 18 years.
- Two girls of a family will get the benefit of this scheme.
Benefits and Features of Punjab Ashirvad Yojana 2024
- The Punjab government provides assistance of Rs.51000 for marriage to girls of SC, ST, OBC and EWS categories.
- Under this scheme, girls of widows of any caste, widows / divorcees of Scheduled Castes are also given financial assistance of Rs.51000 at the time of their remarriage.
- The amount received under Panjab Ashirvad Scheme 2024 is transferred directly to the bank account through DBT.
- About 10873 girls of Scheduled Castes have received benefits through Ashirvad Yojana.
- About 8209 girls of EWS and OBC have received benefits worth Rs.17 crore.
